Shop European Style with Parcel From Paris
Friday, 09 May 2008
Over the next three weeks we'll be talking to three very different Mail Forwarding/Personal Shopping services to give you an idea of how they work, who they are and why their services are a great shopping resource. So to start, we've discovered a fabulous new service to enable you to not only get items shipped from European websites, but also a site that gives you your very own Parisian based personal shopper! Today we talk to Rachel from Parcel From Paris to get the lowdown on her awesome service AND a mighty fine discount for your first custom purchase with Parcel From Paris!

Tell us a bit about how you started Parcel from Paris?

My background lies in the fashion industry. When I met my husband I temporarily moved to the Netherlands (the fashion Siberia) and often shopped online. I know first hand the disappointment of dealing with sellers who do not ship internationally. Since moving back to my home-town, I often receive shopping requests from friends and family in Holland, especially for perfume and beauty products, and I thought why not offer this to shoppers worldwide?!

Can you give us a quick overview of how the service works?

With our service you can shop from euro-exclusive websites or request items from actual boutiques in Paris. You could for example choose a runway look from style.com, and we can hunt down the pieces for you. You can request an item by filling out our online custom purchase form. We will give you a time estimate for locating your items and send you a complete price quote. We then make sure your Parcel from Paris gets to you quickly and safely.

Can you tell us a bit about the international shipping options?
We use the French postal system La Poste with the customers' choice of Express shipping: Chronoposte, or International Priority: Colissimo. Both options are secure and include a tracking number with online track & trace function.

And the Payment Options offered by Parcel from Paris?

For overseas buyers our proffered payment method is by credit card through Paypal which is a free service for the buyer. Alternatively we can accept bank wire transfers.

What are your favorite Paris shopping spots?

Two of my favorite shopping streets in Paris are rue des Saints-Pères on the left bank, and rue des Francs Bourgeois in the Marais. It's fun to explore these neighborhoods with always something new to discover... As our site develops, I'd like to focus more and more on sharing these original style finds with our readers.

If I had to choose only one shopping spot though, it would be le Bon Marché department store for a great mix of established labels and up and coming designers.

What Euro-exclusive sites or Parisian Brands/Boutiques for us to start finding some goodies?!

A typical Parisian shopping spree might include some stylish clothes from brands like: Maje, Sandro, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Antik Batik, and Zadig et Voltaire-for their great cashmere sweaters.

For Handbags and accessories I love Sonia Rykiel, and for shoes Roger Vivier.

Club des Club des Créateurs de Beauté is a popular site for beauty products by Agnes b. and Corinne Cobson.

And as a gourmand treat you might like a fragrance from Serge Lutens or some beautifully packaged sweets from Laduree!
