Making the world a better place with Better World Books
Thursday, 12 June 2008
I love to read. And I read really really quickly, so getting books for a good price is a high priority for me. When your reading 2-3 books per week, you can't afford to just head to the local bookshop. So imagine my excitement when I recently came across a fantastic US based site that costs….wait for it…$US2.97 to ship books to Australia!

Wednesday, 28 May 2008

We went away this weekend, up to the country. Now, I’m not a country girl in any way (I like city life) but a visit is always nice. And the one thing I really love about the country? Country op-shops!

Wishlisting.com
Monday, 19 May 2008

I had a dream. It involved being able to keep track of the many lemmings I have. Another part of my dream involved my husband just KNOWING exactly what I wanted for my birthday/christmas/random I love you presents (yes darling, thats a hint) and buying them for me. I am finally partly on the way to my fantasy with the discovery of wishlisting.com

Are You Really Gonna Wear That? Mirror
Monday, 12 May 2008
Now lets be honest here, haven't we all looked at someone on the street and wondered if they even bothered to look in the mirror in the morning? God hope its never been your own reflection when these words have crossed your mind. And if it has (lets face it, we all have what we shall politely refer to as CBF days), then this mirror is your new best friend.

Mid Heel Mary Jane Court Shoes
Wednesday, 16 April 2008
Recently I decided I wanted some Mary Jane heels but have been holding back on pre-research. This is mostly because in my last attempt at trying to fit my clothes and shoes into my wardrobe I came across heaps of shoes that I haven't actually worn (Seriously, six pairs). But I've found the cutest bargain pair, so shoe ban be damned.

Cheap Thrills - Basic Long Cardi
Monday, 07 April 2008
The setting: Its this time last year. I'm randomly shopping one day (I know, we're all gasping with shock here) not needing something urgently, just having a browse. I decide to check out Supre, not a store I normally like. Its too loud, too crowded and makes me feel old (possibly because I am older than thirteen). But Shopping Commandment #2 states: Thou shalt occasionally step outside thy shopping boundaries. Here lies the path to random finds and not becoming stuck in a rut.

Paying Your Price with Price Pinx
Friday, 04 April 2008
I realised recently there is a shopping habit I have. I spot an item on the racks and as I head towards it I'm mentally toting up what I think the price will be. If its well below or on the money (and I'm pretty good at picking it!) I generally try it on. If its over, I then go into to 'How-much-do-i-like-you' mode. And I generally have a list of 'When its on sale I will buy it' items. Of course, if I am not on the ball I can end up missing out altogether, which is why I am liking Price!Pinx

Custom Designed Shoes
Wednesday, 26 March 2008
One question I get asked on a regular basis,by those that know about my shopping and customised goods fetishes, is where can I get custom made shoes online? Now the answer to this is a bit tricky. True custom designed shoes cannot really be done over the internet since they really require a proper fitting of your foot. But if you want to personalise some shoes - well then I can offer some suggestions!

One of the great eternal questions for shopaholics when shopping is 'What will I wear this with?' There is no point having a wardrobe full of beautiful clothes that can't be worn together. So a rather neat little website that will help you fit any future purchases (or even just your current wardrobe) together is Polyvore.

Adjustable Height Heels
Wednesday, 06 February 2008
When it comes to high heels, I have the best of intentions and the worst  of follow through. I love the look of heels (Louboutins, be still my racing heart!) but I do find that not being a regular heel-wearer, many a time I am put off wearing them. If I have a busy day for example, I don't want to be racing from appointment to appointment on heels. So I was pretty impressed to find that some smart cookie has thought up the answer to this, with adjustable height heels!

I'm a bit of a magazine junkie - really, they are an integral part of my pre-shopping plans. And I until recently I'd spend a fortune at Borders stocking up on international magazines, but not any more, now that I have discovered how much cheaper they are to buy  subscriptions over the internet.

Jelly Headbands
Wednesday, 02 January 2008

Although I regularly see headbands which I think are adorable, I tend not to wear them. Perhaps it's because I seem to have an odd-shaped head, so some headbands stick out at the side. Mostly its that after half an our I start feeling a constant pain where the headband sits below my ears. The dull ache tends to continue before I rip the headband off in frustration and throw it in my bag. It then becomes a dresser accessory that sits on display because it looks pretty, but I never wear it due to the fact that its rare day I wake up and go 'I feel like having a headache today'. But now I have discovered Jelly Headbands.
