Calafant Slot-Together Recyclable Toys
In your pre-kids days, did you take inspiration from the deluge of DIY gardening shows and create a paved, minimalist, obsessively neat backyard? The person who built our house did. It looks lovely and needs little upkeep, but as our daughter has grown we’ve realised how boring and impractical it is. Aside from pavement chalk and watering the potted plants, there’s not a lot for her to do. Certainly no room for a treehouse.
Cue German design company Calafant. They create slot-together (no glue, no scissors) toys that kids can build and decorate themselves, all from recycled cardboard - I’m talking castles, barns, dollhouses and the coolest treehouse of the moment. You might not be able to fit inside it, but at least it will fit comfortably amongst their other toys, and it’s a great inside project idea for winter (or treeless gardens).
Once they’ve put it together (fine motor skills), decorated it (creativity), played with it in every conceivable way (imagination), it can be put in the recycling or even used as compost (eco-conscious). That’s a lot of boxes ticked right there!
Perhaps you love the idea, but want something smaller? Calafant also create mini slot-together trucks, horse & carriages, spacecraft…with prices ranging from just $12.50 – $29.95.
You can buy Calafant in Australia from State of Green.
