Back to School in Style! Part One: School Bags
When we went to school, having a Reebok backpack slung carelessly over one shoulder was SO COOL. Especially if you had name brand sneakers, a surf-brand tshirt, and a bubble-free ponytail with voluminous fringe. Thankfully, this generation can work the playground in genuine style. In part one of our Back To School in Style series, we look at bags, bags, glorious bags – yes, back to school is a genuine reason to go bag shopping!
Penny Scallan has long been the go-to for cutesy-but-cool, retro-inspired designs. Kinder Kaboodle stock a huge range, including the red Skull or pink Girly Bird (from $39.95ea), which come in kinder or school sizes. Kinder Kaboodle also stock the gorgeous Rush – I’m talking Cupcakes! Babushkas! Aliens! Pirates!
Vintage lovers should go for the amazing Vintage Ladybird Book Rucksack by Larkmade ($39.95). Your Frankie-loving 20-something rellies will be mighty jealous. (I am).
It’s impossible to mistake whose bag is whose with personalised backpacks from Mooo. Unless there are several Jacks, Joshuas, Emilys or Graces in your class who all have the same colour preference, you’re pretty safe. Choose your colour and print and off you go! Oh, did I mention the little owl “radio-head” print? CUTE!
At Haggus and Stookles, chances are you’ll walk away with a bag no-one else will be toting on the first day of term. Well, they might be reading this and therefore narrowing your chances, but with quirky designs like the RagDoll by Tantrums ($43.95) or Monkeys by Stephen Joseph ($39.95), your little one will look uber-awesome regardless.
Mummy’s Favourite have beautiful drawstring bags by Cocoon Couture – bright, fun, and handmade with vintage fabrics (serious eco-points right there), they’re a gorgeous alternative to backpacks. ($39.95 ea)
