Princess With A Backpack

Princess With A BackpackI must say, backpacking has never appealed to me, quite simply because I am a Princess. I like my holidays to include 5 stars, cocktails and photo ops where I don’t look like I’ve joined the army reserve. But if you’ve got a yen to see the world on a budget and have princess-like tendencies, this book could be your godsend.

Princess with a Backpack is the brain-child of Lauren Resnick, self confessed princess (and we love her description of a princess ‘ we demand a little more than most, and see obstacles not as problems, but as challenges we must overcome to basically get what we want out of life‘) and seasoned traveller, who has put together this nifty guide for the wanna-be backpacking princess.

Forget the guide that tells you to pack light and wear sensible shoes, Lauren instead focuses on the important matters such as not denying you your LBD (how one is supposed to pick up a hot holiday fling in sensible shoes is something I never understood!), culling your jeans needs down to two (two!) pairs without feeling like you’ve got nothing to wear and still being able to carry your backpack comfortably. She even explains international clothes dryer settings to ensure you don’t end up with a shrunken wardrobe.

Once she’s got you packing, primped and primed to go, Princess with a backpack also takes you through the best princess friendly hotels, nightspots and shops around Europe, as well as beauty and health tips on the go. Don’t forget to check out the ‘When in Rome’ chapter which focuses solely on our favourite travel activity – shopping!

You can find out more about Lauren at the Princess with a Backpack website, and head to Amazon to get your hands on the book (methinks this would make a good Christmas present for Princesses heading O/S in 2009!)
