Today we’re talking to Alision Piro, the creator of Mummy Cards , calling cards & stationery for your family. How did the idea for Mummy Cards come about?

Picture this – Friday afternoon in the playground with a toddler, a seven year old, the dog and a runaway soccer ball. My eldest son calls out, ‘Mum, Can Sam come over to play?’ Sam’s mum agrees and follows with the usual – What is your address? Do you have a pen? Do you have my mobile in case there’s a problem? Oh and Sam is allergic to …….’ Toddler on hip, runaway soccer ball, dog has hopefully taken himself home and now two impatient 7 year olds I think there has got to be a better way….

And Mummy Cards were born. Mummy Cards are calling cards for parents or individuals. The information on the cards is fully personalized to include (if you wish) name, mobile, email, address etc. The cards can also accommodate family/children’s info such as name, dob, allergy or other. Some people order them as a card for themselves or a ‘family’ card and others even order them with home details on the front and weekender details on back.

Okay, tell us why Mummy cards are such a great idea (besides the fact that they look gorgeous!)

Thank you – we aimed to created something sophisticated and stylish.

Many parents have different family names to their children, use a different name for work or don’t wish to disclose professional details in a personal setting. Many children (and adults) have health or allergy issues and these details can be listed on the cards along with emergency contact information if desired. The cards are useful in these scenarios.

What’s some examples of places Mummy cards would come in handy?

Recently one forward thinking customer ordered cards to take to her school reunion. She was able to pass on her current contact details to old friends. The cards are also useful after moving home. The most common uses for the Mummy Cards are everyday situations such as leaving contact details with your child’s host at a playdate, leaving with a coach/instructor, swapping details with other people.

Can you give us any insider info on the upcoming stationery range?

Yes! Some of our popular ranges are being developed into stationery ranges including gift cards, birthday cards, notepaper and a few other unique items. Once choosing a theme for yourself or family you will be able to follow through with the complete range of stationery. You will be able to buy ‘off the self’ or have the stationery personalized.

What if I don’t have kids but love your designs, can I still get custom made cards?

Absolutely, the ‘mummy aspect’ is our point of difference. Many of our orders are from individuals who are not in the workforce, retired, can’t remember their mobile number/email address and other contact details or just like the idea of having a practical and stylish way to pass their contact details on.
