Feeling the Peter Alexander Love
Today’s post is a little ode to my favourite Pyjama maker, Peter Alexander. I’m especially feeling the love with the new collection because it features stars!
It’s funny, but I actually can’t remember what the first PJ item I bought from Peter Alexander was. Knowing me, it was PJ Pants, since I get cold so easily. I have enough Peter Alexander PJs that I could probably go a month without doing any washing and still not run out of PJs. (I like to think that this is in preparation for the day I will have a home-based job and will be able to work in my jammies). Occasionally I’ve defected to other brands, cotton on body, loveable, even the occasional cute pair of flannels from Target, but still I return to PA.
So why? Firstly its the designs. They appeal to my not-so-inner girl. I’ve got ones of little spacemen flying around, skulls with pink ribbons, little pink shorts with rubber duckies on them. And as I’ve already mentioned the current collection is stars. I’m a sucker for a cute print, and PA meets that need. Plus, if I happen to be caught out by an unexpected visitor, I am not embarrassed by my jammies. Whilst I was never embarrassed by any of the above, none had that total cuteness factor that I see in PA.
Second is the cut. My requirements in PJs are thus: They must not annoy me during the night by riding up too high. They should feel completely comfy whilst I am chilling out reading/watching TV (ie. do not be cutting into me in anyway). Whilst I may be slobbing, they must still make me feel good about myself. Vain maybe, but hey. Now, this was personal preference but the Cotton On Body PJs were too tight fitting. They felt constricting whilst slobbing, and I bought the largest size available, so it was the cut. The loveable pants kept riding up and annoying me and they also were too thin to keep me warm.
Finally, I want them to last. PJs don’t really go in and out of fashion, so despite the seductive lure of each PA range, I want to them last. And I’m sorry, but the target ones lost all shape, the elasticity on the pants went by about three months in and then they got a hole in the butt, much to my husbands childish amusement. Now, my PA skull PJs have been in high rotation for at least the last 10 months and they are still holding their shape perfectly, and and looking like they have plenty of life left in them.
My current loves, it being winter, are the wide leg hipster range. They flatter without making me feel fat, they are super comfy and they have pockets. (again, not that I really use the pockets but they are there if I need them! They also tend to go well with my wide variety of basic PJ tops I’ve acquired over the years. And yes, I’m buying bought the wide leg star PJs :)
