Keep Track Of Your Lemmings With Wishlisting.com
I had a dream. It involved being able to keep track of the many lemmings I have. Another part of my dream involved my husband just KNOWING exactly what I wanted for my birthday/christmas/random I love you presents (yes darling, thats a hint) and buying them for me. I am finally partly on the way to my fantasy with the discovery of wishlisting.com
Now, I’ve only been using it for two weeks but I love it.
With wishlisting you install a bookmarklet (ie. a browser button) and when you see something you like, you hit that button. Without leaving the store of your choice, wishlisting grabs the item image, url and price to add to your wishlist, which in then presents in this very nice visual display. It even splits the items you have as seperate from the items you want (when you purchase something you easily update it to ‘I have it’
Problem solved: Keeping track of random items I want and the things Ive already bought (beats scouring through the wardrobe that’s for sure!)
Wishlisting then takes it all to the next step by including a social networking style interface so that your friends and family can buy you items from your wishlist. Given that all the information (store, price etc) is available to them AND the fact that when you add an item you can rate how much you want it (A Little, A Lot etc), there is no excuse for cruddy presents anymore!
When someone is browsing your profile they can even select a price range and only see the items in that price range. You can even email people your wishlist, say a couple of weeks before your birthday, to save yourself from the invevitable ‘What do you want for your Birthday?’ conversations that occur in the lead up.
Now, I haven’t used that side of things much because its not my birthday or any other random present giving type of day – yet. But where I have found wishlisting really great so far, is simply its ability to keep track of the various things I’ve seen and liked – previously I’d bookmark them and then forget they existed. I like that I dont have to leave the store, and the graphic display of items easily shows me if I am going overboard on a particular trend.
Wishlisting also has a price alert function (similar to Price Pinx ) but its still limited to 34 stores (and I’m not too sure about the point of having a price alert on tiffany.com since they dont have sales. Like, ever) so hopefully this will expand in the future. But it’s a nice looking site to keep track of your lemmings.
Now if only I could convince my husband that my wishlist should be his browser homepage…
