Paying Your Price with Price Pinx
I realised recently there is a shopping habit I have. I spot an item on the racks and as I head towards it I’m mentally toting up what I think the price will be. If its well below or on the money (and I’m pretty good at picking it!) I generally try it on. If its over, I then go into to ‘How-much-do-i-like-you’ mode. And I generally have a list of ‘When its on sale I will buy it’ items. Of course, if I am not on the ball I can end up missing out altogether, which is why I am liking Price!Pinx
Price!Pinx, all you do is sign up for an account (free) and then install a bookmarklet on your browers (For Firefox users, its dead easy, just drop and drag the link into your favourites bar. Sorry IE users, I don’t use IE but I’m sure its pretty simple!)
Then you get shopping. Did I mention this will work on ANY website? When you find an item you want to snag when the price drops, just highlight the price and hit the bookmarklet you installed on your brower. The Price!Pinx database then records the item and price, and once the price drops will shoot you an email. Thats it.
A good analogy is to think of Price!Pinx as your own little version of My eBay, without other bidders driving up the price. You can go in and check what your are watching and easily remove them, and you can also see what recent price alerts have been sent to other users (to find that bargain that you didn’t know you needed!). I also find this useful when I realise I am contemplating buying say, 5 fairly similar items – it helps me keep track of everything I am eyeing off!
So whats on my list at the moment? A Delias duffle coat that I’ve been eyeing off for the longest time and, surprise surprise, the Dooney & Bourke Hayden bag. Cross your fingers on the Hayden bag, I’m hanging out for this one to drop in price!
