I've Found It! A Use For Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
I’ve found it… the holy grail… the one reasonable use for Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. You may recall I posted a little while ago about how Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is the world’s most useless cult beauty product . Luckily, I’ve found a good use for it.
So, if you’ve got a tube of it you’re wondering how you’re ever going to use up, here’s a recipe for you:
2 x SOLUBLE aspirin tablets (this is the kind that dissolves when you put it in water). I suggest ‘Solprin’ – it’s cheap!
Smidge of Eight Hour Cream
Few droplets of water
One other ingredient – TBA
In a little dish of some sort (I use the cap for a tin), mix your aspirin tablets with a couple of water droplets. And I do mean a couple. You want the aspirin to turn into a paste, not into something you could conceivably drink. To this mixture, you’ll add your smidge of eight hour cream and another ingredient.
Now, you’re going to put this stuff on your face as a masque for about 20 mins. Your mystery TBA ingredient will depend on your skin type. I’ve been putting this goo primarily on my chin to assist with congestion. My skin in that area is bumpy, uneven and prone to breakouts, so I used Mario Badescu’s Honey & Almond scrub, which can also be used as a masque. It has cleansing properties that help to clear out your skin. You can use whatever product is going to assist your particular skin condition.
Anyway, add your Eight Hour Cream and mystery other ingredient to the aspirin mix. You won’t need much. The point of these other products is twofold – 1) aspirin is essentially pure salicylic acid – (don’t worry, it’s not going to burn your face off!), it’s going to help your skin regenerate itself. However it *can* be a little drying, and when you have these new, fresh skin cells exposed, it’s good to give them some hydration. 2) aspirin in paste form will clump and if you put it straight on your face, give it about five minutes and you’re going to find that you’ll be malting white stuff everywhere… take it from me. These other products help it all stick together.
So, when you’ve selected your mystery ingredient and you’ve mixed it all together, you’re going to put this stuff on your face like a masque, and leave it on for about 20 mins before washing it off with warm water and a facecloth. You’re going to need that facecloth with the Eight Hour Cream involved, believe you me.
The result is very glowy, hydrated and clear skin. If you have any cornflakes (the leftover bit if you’ve got a little enthusiastic about your treatment of a spot and it’s dried up, leaving a crusty patch), they’ll be pretty much gone (if not now, then definitely by the morning). I really feel this treatment will work on almost any skin type – mine is quite oily and it works very well, but with the Eight Hour component, I can help but feel it’d be just dandy on dry skin too.
Give it a go and let me know what you think! :-)
