Cult Product Review – Guerlain Meteorites

Cult Product Review Guerlain MeteoritesI remember the fuss Meteorites caused, three counters over when I worked on the shop floor. Guerlain could NEVER keep them in stock – it was ridiculous. Every time they’d get them in, the consultants would spend the day calling all the people who’d been to ask about them in the last however many months, and without fail they’d all show up in parade fashion over the course of the following Saturday to pick up their prized meteorites like they were the rarest of diamonds.

It’s really been THAT long since I heard about this product, and given all the fuss I have no idea why I haven’t tried it ’til now.

When travelling recently, I finally picked up a ‘collection’ edition in duty free, that had miniature versions of all three shades (Mythic – 01, Pink Fresh – 02 and Beige Chic – 03). Fairly sensational as far as I was concerned, as for just $75 (not much different to what one of these retails at), I got to try all three… and on that note I must say, I’ve been really impressed.

My skin is currently a shade off completely see-through, with all this wonderful British winter sun we’ve been getting (please note heavy sarcasm), so Beige Chic has been great for giving me some (very light) colour on those days I actually could be using Liquid Paper instead of foundation. Mythic offers more of a radiance boost, which has been fantastic when I’ve had a tremendously busy weekend (or work week for that matter). Finally, Pink Fresh, despite its name is actually more peachy and seems to be more suited when I’m wearing colours (both makeup-wise and clothing-wise) that are in more of that colour range. On the whole, they don’t really provide a great deal of colour, but rather give your skin some ‘oomph’ (for want of a better word!). Nicer still, as a powder-based product, I’ve noticed it makes my makeup last longer (without needing to use a pressed powder).

As you may already be aware, Meteorites are packaged in a small, round container and are actually a group of small balls. You brush the balls with a powder brush and sweep on to the face. If this sort of application isn’t your cup of tea, or you travel a lot (or just like to carry your makeup around with you) Guerlain also offer a compact version (with pressed powder in a hexagonal ‘honeycomb’ pattern.

I’ll definitely be using this product in the future instead of pressed powder. I can understand what all the hype was all those years ago over at the Guerlain counter!

P.S. If you’re looking for more information on this product before you buy… can I recommend you DON’T bother to look at their website? It blathers on about ‘mystery’ and ‘serenity’ and whatnot. Unless you want a laugh, of course… then go for your life!

I bought these a while back from Fresh in 3 different shades and I love them! I only got the minatures as well as I couldn't afford the full size however the scent is divine and so is the look. Everyone asks me what I'm wearin that makes me look so good and I have this product to thank…
