Cheap International Magazine Subscriptions

I’m a bit of a magazine junkie – really, they are an integral part of my pre-shopping plans. And I until recently I’d spend a fortune at Borders stocking up on international magazines, but not any more, now that I have discovered how much cheaper they are to buy  subscriptions over the internet.

There are quite a few international based sites which let you take advantage of the dirt cheap subscriptions prices in the US, and the savings are huge. Just to give you a few examples:

Harpers Bazaar US
Ordering a 12 month subscriptions via Magshop is AU$140.70
Ordering a 12 month subscription via Hearst Magazine is $US30 (roughly AU$35 which is $2.90AUD per issue) shipped to Australia

Marie Claire USA
Sale Price at Borders – $11.50AUD per issue
Ordering a 12 month subscription via Magshop is AU$176.50
Ordering a 12 month subscription via Magazine City is $28US (roughly AU$32, which is 3.25 per issue) shipped to Australia

Lucky Magazine
Sale Price at Borders – 8.95 per issue
1 year subscription from Conde Naste US – $45US (aprox 52 which is 4.30AUD per issue) shipped to Australia

Although there is some UK based sites , however with the exchange rate the saving vs newstand price wasn’t huge.It seems the US based magazines that represented the most savings.

One important thing to note: The one downside of these subscriptions – As they ship via international surface mail, you probably will see them in Borders or your local newsagent before your subscription arrives. If that’s going to drive you nuts, you’re best to purchase them in Australia. Personally, I’m willing to wait to save the extra $$$ (I once worked out how much I spend on magazines per year and nearly cried. Suffice to say I could have probably bought  some Marc Jacobs shoes instead).

	Has an absolutely mind boggling selection of magazines, but check out the other sites before purchasing as sometimes a bit more expensive (eg. Marie Claire US is more expensive here than hearst magazines). Will let you pay via cheque, although the check will have to be in US dollars. Visit Magazine City
	At Hearst Magazines smaller selection of magazines, but generally the cheapest.Make sure you read the fine print, which basically tells you its $20US extra for international shipping Also keep in mind that after you order your 1st subscriptions you can get further discounts on other subscriptions.
