Share Tip For The Week: Maybelline
They just keep getting it so very right for me at the moment! Maybelline is usually one of those brands I barely give a second thought to. Perhaps a nailpolish here or there if I’m after a very specific colour, possibly an eyeliner for much the same reason… but that’s about as far as my Maybelline exploration has ever gone. Until now.
Last week when I posted about the Dream Mousse Blush, I also received a sample of their Dream Matte Mousse foundation and I tried it simply because the blush was so pretty. Previously, foundation would have been one of the few samples I rarely try – the generic sample colour is usually far too dark for my pale complexion, but this has been just lovely!
It’s a very lightweight foundation that goes on smoothly and blends nicely. As far as I can tell, you can have quite a sheer finish, or build it up for a greater coverage in the areas you need it (or at night, for example). It lasts the full day (without ‘setting’) and it’s only now (at 7pm when it’s been on for nearly twelve hours) that I’m starting to think it could possibly use a little touch up, or a smidge of powder in my t-zone.
A word from the boyfriend though: “it looks a bit dusty” (translation: ‘it is very much a matte finish foundation’) – that is, whilst sheer and lightweight and everything else you could want from a foundation, it certainly isn’t dewy. I however, like to have both in my collection. Matte finish foundations photograph a hundred times better than their dewy sisters, but you have to tread delicately with them. When building up your coverage be careful to blend everything in, otherwise you can end up looking cakey. Matte finishes are also truly delightful with oily or combination skin.
This is definitely one I’m going to add to my makeup bag!
