Kris Kringle Gift Ideas
Every year, I dread the Office Kris Kringle. It’s not that I am morally opposed to buying a co-worker a small gift. It’s that without fail, I end up getting someone I don’t know, or in an even worse case scenario, I end up with the CEO
I hate having to sidle up to the desk of the Kris Kringle organiser and ask them to point out who Mary in HR is, and then ask questions about what Mary likes. Its difficult enough thinking of a cheap decent present for someone, without throwing in the political correctness of office etiquette these days.
So here are my top 9 Kris Kringle Ideas that are not a candle or a mug. There are only 9 because No. 10 sold out before I got a chance to put all this together!
I’ve put in some for those of you lucky enough to get someone with a sense of humour. Also if you are really dreading getting someone you have no idea what to buy for – start becoming friends with the Kris Kringle organiser about now, because if you are really nice to them, they might let you put your person back in the hat and choose another one. Also, all present ideas are under $25

Deck of Secrets – Eat, Drink, Shop and many more I’m not sure if these are only for Sydney and Melbourne but these are so cool. The Eat one has 52 different restaurants around the CBD area and tells you a bit about the eatery, opening times and if it is BYO or not and the back of the card has a map to show you where it is located. I’m recommending the eating ones simply because this is perfect for ANYONE – we’ve all gotta eat! Get it from Angus & Robertson, Borders, Kikki K or Remo for $9.95AUD |

Shark Fin Waiters Bottle Opener Personally, I think one can never own too many bottle openers from the number of times I have done the search through a friends kitchen drawers trying to find one before finally doing the try-to-knock-the-lid-off-on-the-sink-corner trick (one day it will work)
Another great ‘I know nothing about you’ present. Also comes with a cute little pouch Get it from Boyd & Co for $9.95AUD |

Finally, a gift that gives to more than one person. Oxfam is selling ‘Start A Business’ for $14AUD which goes towards helping young women in some of India’s poorest states start small businesses. The program, called the Maa Shakti Self-Help Saving Co-operative, is run in a small poor fishing village in the Astarang Block of Puri District. Through the program, families are able to earn a better income, which also helps to improve the health and education of children across the whole community. Get it from Oxfam for $14AUD (remember to make the donation in your Kris Kringle’s name!) |
