Hair Extensions now at Target

Last week I was doing the dash through Target to check out the new prices on the Designers for Target Range (Everything is now under $130 in case you are interested) and as I walked through the Beauty section I found Target is now carrying the Hair U Wear Put on Pieces Range!

Now I have some of these and I love them. I was a bit slow on the clip in hair extensions bandwagon. I kept assuming they only came in really bizarre colours at the Reject Shop and looked really obvious. And if I am painfully honest I was too cheap to pay for the ones at the hairdresser. Plus, as my mother reminds me at every opportunity, I don’t have enough hair to lose if they wreck my hair. To give you an idea, my hair is very very fine, and I don’t have a lot of it. My one year old niece would probably give me a good run for my money in a who-has-the-thickest-ponytail competition.

Anyway, then I came across this thread on the Vogue Forum. It’s a great thread, detailing one users experiences with the Hair U Wear range. I was intrigued. I decided to give them a crack. So off I went to shops, and I ended up getting Put on Pieces from the Hair U Wear range. The main difference between these and the ‘Hair Do Hair U Wear’ is that the Put on Pieces literally are pieces (10 in the pack I bought) rather than two big wafts. This was important to me because it meant there was less strain on my hair. The other thing I love about the clip in factor is that I only have to deal with them when I want – on a lazy Sunday I just don’t put them in.

Now a couple of things here. Firstly, its synthetic hair. It does feel a different to my ‘real’ hair (a bit like fishing wire) but importantly, it doesn’t look it. I’ve had people ask me why I’m not wearing my extension when I am but I have them tied back. And really, how many people touch your hair that often? Secondly, the great colour debate. As I was not particularly attached to my current hair colour, so I ended up choosing a colour I like in the extensions and then got my hair dyed that colour. The Target Range only come in 6 colours and unfortunately the colour I have is not included in the range at Target, but HairHouse Warehouse has the complete range of colours.

Anyway, part of the reason I am so excited about this (and yes, I admit it, I’m contemplating my changing my hair colour) is that the one piece medium length straight and wavy clip in sets are the bargain price of $39.95AUD! If you’re not sure if you are ready to take the leap into hair extensions, these are the most reasonably priced extensions to test the waters with in my view.
