A surprise find – Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush

I’m one of those people that pulls all the samples out of magazines and actually hoards them until I get a chance to try them. My mother was mortified when she found out that I didn’t actually wait until I was travelling to use samples, but rather used them at home.

Can you imagine discovering that the sample foundation you have is (surprise surprise) the wrong colour or that you’re highly allergic to that tiny tub of night cream whilst you’re on holiday or about to make an important presentation for work? Yeeech!

Anyway, I have to say… a lot of the stuff I get in samples in magazines isn’t worth the paper they’re stuck to, so it was quite surprising that the Maybelline Dream Mousse blush I tried recently is actually quite delightful.

The colour is called “mauve” but I think this is just their way of saying it’s not a peach-pink or a lolly-pink. It’s just a nice pink. You only need the absolute tiniest pin-head sized smidge to do the job. It goes on smoothly – you can blend with your fingers and build up the colour as you go, so you can start with an extremely sheer colour and work it up to a more striking depth as you like. It dries quickly on your skin, doesn’t sink in to pores and seems to last the day (although you may need a bit of a top up if you’re going out at night).

All this, combined with the price (AU9.95 in the link above from Glossi!) means it’s a really nice option. I’ll definitely be looking to see what other colours they have too. Congrats, Maybelline – for once, your sampling paid off!
