Wearable Words

Wearable WordsA friend of mine is trying to find a cheap way to get some custom made tshirts for his upcoming footy trip and he enlisted my help to find a way to do it. A very nifty site that we came across is wearable words, which lets you create custom made iron on transfers.

If you don’t have a wizz bang printer to create your own iron on transfers (or are like me and buy the budget transfer paper that doesn’t give the best finish), wearable words looks like the place for you. Plus their site is pretty funny (Check out the recipe for Pancakes in the frequently asked questions).

What I like about the idea of the iron on transfer is that if you can hunt down some plain cheap tshirts (My tips: TSL, Best and Less, Target and Big W) get the fit you like and then apply your own transfer and you’re still looking at less than $15 (The transfers start from AUD$6). So for the footy trip, when in their drunken states they trash their tshirts/lose them in their drunken adventures, it doesn’t really matter. I actually don’t really want to think about what those poor tees will be subjected to from stories from the past years but hey, what happens on the footy trip, stays on the footy trip.

Your not limited to tshirts either – according to the site if it can be ironed, a transfer can be stuck on it. I haven’t actually tried these guys out so I’m not sure how the quality compares to sites like Foghorn, but they look pretty good on the site, and if they end up getting the footy trip tees I will let you know. I think I want to make a tote bag with a saying, but now I just need to hunt down some plain tote bags!
