Gossip Girl Style

Gossip Girl StyleI said I wouldn’t do it. In my post Veronica Mars trauma, I swore off all CW shows forever (cause you know, living in Australia and therefore not being someone they are targeting, that would make a difference). But then I heard about Gossip Girl. Then Entourage finished for the year. And I became desperate for a TV show to watch on a regular basis. So I caved.

Having read some of the books, I’m fairly familiar with the series. This is usually a bad thing for me and TV. See I have an excellent imagination, and since its my imagination, I imagine things in books in the way that works best for me. So I am invariably offended by Book-To-TV/Movies adaptions. Don’t even get me started on the pathetic butcher job that was done with the Princess Diaries movie. It doesn’t have to be totally faithful to the book, but lets at least get the same basic premise happening!

Anyway, so I didn’t mind Gossip Girl. It’s been ages since I read the books so I really only vaguely know what’s going to happen and wasn’t getting irritable about changes made. Except for the aforementioned and much beloved (for me) Veronica Mars, I’ve never been hooked on a show from it’s pilot, but so far Gossip Girl is looking good. I thought Dan was hot. I thought Blair had nice hair. And I loved the clothes.

It’s interesting to note that the CW has taken a jump on the usual fan fashion sites by setting up a Gossip Girl style section on their website. Wondering what the hot sequinned tunic dress Serena wore was? Tory Burch, and thanks to the CW, I know you can get it here. Blair’s section is unfortunately missing all her clothes from the pilot at the moment, which is a pity because I thought she wore some really nice stuff (like the black dress in the opening party scene).

Another great site is the You Know You Love Me Fashion Book, which searches out similiar styles to the clothes on Gossip Girl

One thing I tell you though; this is going to be a fun-to-drool-over-the-clothes show, not neccesarily steal-the-style on the my budget anyway!

Gossip Girl premieres on Foxtel ’soon’ (Could’nt find a start date sorry).
