Emporium – The new Myer Magazine

Emporium The new Myer MagazineSo Myer have just launched their own magazine, emporium, ‘a glossy new quarterly fashion and lifestyle magazine from Myer’. I’d heard this was coming, and vaguely recall participating in a survey about what I wanted in it (I just recall asking them to give Jennifer Hawkins a rest) but I was shocked to find out that *gasp* – I’m expected to PAY for it!

Now to me, a Myer store magazine will be like the Qantas magazine. Something to read at the start of the plane trip before the entertainment system kicks in, occassionally have the interesting article, but basically a very big, glossy advertisment.

The first issue promises us to ’Discover the ‘Driving Ambition’ of actor Eric Bana, meet some of emporium’s favourite fashion designers and indulge yourself with our decadent chocolate recipes. Don’t miss emporium’s comprehensive guide to bedding and coffee machines, travel and lifestyle stories, great kids’ news, competitions and so much more….’ – so basically the Myer buying guide to sleepwear, coffee machines, travel accessories and profiles of designers carried by Myer.

Supposedly Myer will be allowing companies in other markets to advertise in the magazine (so basically, no David Jones ads) but for $5.95, I’d honestly rather read New Weekly – at least then I get a laugh at what Brad and Ange’s ‘close friend’ supposedly said about them

For those that want to give it a go, you can pick it up free with any purchase from Myer with this flyer.

It really isn’t very suprising that there are that many ads in those magazines… thats how they get us to buy their products, but I must add, I got my Myer Magazine for free for being a Myer One member. It’s quite easy to join and you get reward points everytime you spend. So if you buy alot of stuff from Myer I would say it is a good investment.
